Jeff Schachter is the Founder and Managing Partner of Emes Capital LLC, his personal family office and provider of alternative asset manager consulting, advisory and coaching services. Prior to Emes Capital, from April 2015 until February 2023, Mr. Schachter was President and Chief Operating Officer of Crawford Lake Capital Management LLC, a long/short equity hedge fund based in Lakewood, New Jersey. Mr. Schachter grew assets under management at Crawford Lake from less than $50 million when he joined to $1.2 billion in four years. Additionally, in 2012 Mr. Schachter founded Madison Hill Properties, a north New Jersey multi-family residential investment and management company. Madison Hill raised over $100 million from 2013-2017 and purchased over 1,000 units. Madison Hill is currently developing a 360 room Grand Hyatt Hotel and Residences in the Cayman Islands. Prior to Crawford Lake and Madison Hill from 2011 to 2015, Mr. Schachter was the co-founder and Managing Partner of Avet Capital Management, a long/short biotech equity hedge fund partially seeded by Julian Robertson of Tiger Management. Prior to Avet, from 2010 to 2011, Mr. Schachter was a Managing Director at Helios Advisors LLC, a ~$580 million New York based multi-strategy hedge fund. At Helios, Mr. Schachter was responsible for creating the Helios Energy Fund, a long/short energy fund. Prior to Helios, from 2009 to 2010, Mr. Schachter was Head of Marketing for Greystone, Inc., a real estate company with ~$10 billion in assets. From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Schachter co-founded and built Cedarview Capital Management into a ~$700 million alternative asset manager focusing in the high yield bond and leverage loan markets. Prior to establishing Cedarview, Mr. Schachter was involved in institutional high-yield and distressed debt sales for nine years. Mr. Schachter began his Wall Street career at Jefferies & Company in March 1995.

Mr. Schachter received a Juris Doctor degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley in 1990 and a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1986, where he graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors.
